If you have not already read the original post about how to lose 5 pounds in 5 days but might not want to here is a quick update.
As I suspected losing 5 pounds in 5 days on a low carb diet is not really all that much of a challenge. If you have the dogged determination to stick out the low carb torture the weight will fall right off. I have seen others replicate these same results numerous times. This is the technique body builders use to shave their body fat on their physiques down to low single digits.
It is however a pain in the arse and not at all a healthy way to approach dieting.
Lets get down to the follow up portion of the experiment
- As I had mentioned previously, this diet killed not only my energy but also my attitude. Several days after going back onto a regular diet my mood remains below where it was before. Of course this could be related to several other factors but I really do feel that the diet played a significant role in this mood deterioration.
- I have been eating paleo/slow carb for 3 to 4 months at this point with little to no cravings. Cravings started while on the low carb diet and despite a cheat meal and a good share of healthy food I still find myself craving sugary junk that I would have turned my nose up at before. For months I didn’t even look at cake, donuts, coffee creamer or cookies as food, not it takes all I have to stay away. I think the sever carb depletion has triggered my body to get fuel from where ever it can.
- One single day after returning to a regular eating regime I had gained 2.4 pounds. I am sure much of this is water retention and I am not the least bit surprised. This really just serves to reinforce in my mind that this is in no way a sustainable effective diet that anyone should use for regular weight loss.
I am sure my body will normalize but for now I feel a little out of whack. I have got to say that 5 days can make a tremendous amount of difference.
